Settling In

Kitteh Settles In

Turns out, however, that despite the abrupt transport to Seattle, which rankled, it's not such a bad place for kittehs. There was ample room, many things to sniff, and he had free reign of the space. Within 24 hours he was feeling free enough to join J at the desk and make a thorough patrol of the perimeter, though it did take about 5 days to feel brave enough to venture outside.

After about a month in Colorado, complete with a week long stay in a vet as a boarder, Tchoup traveled via plane to his final destination - Seattle, WA. He got to fly in the cabin this time, ending up traveling beside a small dog. Despite a fit to get him into the kitty carrier and mewling all the way to the airport, as well as a couple ill-conceived escape attempts through the netting, he shut up at the airport and froze completely when it was time to go through security, which was lucky as he was easy to get in and out of the carrying case. He remained silent at the baggage carousel and then again at the curb as we waited for pick up. Several people stopped to say how lovely he was and well-behaved. But his silent, rigid staring was not good behavior. He was frozen with fury and plotting vengeance.

International Cat of Mystery

Tchoup, the Rwandan cat, has officially and successfully immigrated to the US. He's managed to adapt somewhat quickly to his life in Boulder County, dry food, and the new garage he calls home. Creature comforts like a cozy bed and plenty of delicious leftovers from excellent dinners surely cushioned the adjustment, though the jetlag and righteous indignation of having to spend 3 days in a cat carrier being handled by strangers led him to have quite the attitude upon arrival (and quite a lot to say) followed by over a week o weirdness. Up to date on US shots, in addition to his Rwandan rabies vaccine, he's ready to own this neighborhood.
